September marks a defining moment in the journey of AquaPark. Our Olympic-standard 50m Myrtha pool is set to arrive. It’s not just concrete and stainless steel, it’s the beating heart of a bold new era for aquatics in South Africa.
As the shell takes shape and the final stages of Phase One draw near, excitement is rippling through the community.
For athletes who train hard, this is the stage they have dreamed of. A high-performance facility built for serious training and competing, with a movable bulkhead that allows seamless transition between 50m and 25m formats. Everything a future Olympian needs to train at the highest level will be available in Pietermaritzburg.
But AquaPark isn’t just for elite swimmers. It’s for families looking for a safe, welcoming place for their children to learn. It’s for organisers who need a venue that meets international competition standards. And it’s for talented youth who will finally have access to world-class training opportunities.
A project like this doesn’t happen because of one person. It happens because of belief – from our partners, supporters, families, and a community that understands the power of water.
If you’ve followed the journey, supported it, questioned it, or believed in it quietly from the sidelines – thank you. The next chapter is about to begin, and I can’t wait to see this pool come alive with people.
All the best,
Theo Verster, CEO
