There are moments you imagine – and then there are moments that stop you in your tracks.
Seeing water finally settle into AquaPark’s indoor Olympic-standard pool was one of those moments for me.
AquaPark is a space that gives swimmers access to world-class facilities, opportunity and to a future in the water, no matter where you come from.
I’ve spent most of my life on pool decks. I know what a good facility feels like. But AquaPark was never meant to be just a good pool!
It’s meant to be a place where:
Watching the pool fill reminded me that this space will soon hold thousands of small, personal moments – nerves before a swim, quiet focus, laughter, achievement.
That’s what excites me most.
We’re now in the final stretch. The water is in. Systems are being tested. Finishing touches are happening behind the scenes. And in just a few weeks, AquaPark will open its doors to the public. We are already looking forward to hosting galas and tournaments.
We’re being intentional about how we take this next step, making sure everything is ready, safe, and aligned with the standard we believe South Africa deserves. Details around access, programmes, and schedules will be shared shortly.
A project like this doesn’t happen because of one person. It happens because of belief – from our partners, supporters, families, and a community that understands the power of water.
If you’ve followed the journey, supported it, questioned it, or believed in it quietly from the sidelines – thank you. The next chapter is about to begin, and I can’t wait to see this pool come alive with people.
All the best,
Theo Verster, CEO
